Meadowlakes is located next to the city of Marble Falls, TX and is approximately 48 miles NW of Austin, 86 miles N of San Antonio, 208 miles NW of Houston and 217 miles SW of Dallas, making is a centralized locale for many. History of Meadowlakes Meadowlakes development was started in 1973, followed by the creation of the Meadowlakes Municipal Utility District in 1974 to provide water, wastewater & drainage facilities for the community. By 1982 the community consisted of 178 residents and 98 homes. The City is now governed by a mayor and 5 council members, all of whom serve without compensation. The are now about 850 homes and over 1850 residents. The MUD is now a Public Works Department and has been merged with the City Government. The Community consists of 519 acres, including the Hidden Lakes Golf Course, which is now owned by the City.
